Oil pressure light will not save engine damage
In my old car, of course, I almost every week checked the engine oil level with a dipstick. Figs knows where it flowed, but probably everywhere for a little bit. At the last "Yeti" skated 25 000 km and happened a year did not look under the hood. What for? I logically thought that since no light bulbs on the dashboard come on, everything is in order. 21 century in the yard, in the car a lot of sensors, which of course will tell me if something goes wrong.
However, everything is not quite right? Rather, not at all ...
Here I read this information: if you are even the owner of a modern car, then, most likely, there is no oil sensor in the engine crankcase in your car. As a result, even if your engine will experience an oil starvation, you will hardly know about this, which in the end is fraught with engine wear and even its breakdown.
But what about the vaunted engine oil pressure sensor, which at normal pressure of oil in the system does not burn on the dashboard? Unfortunately, it will not help you if your car has a low oil level. The fact is that this icon "watering" on the tidy will light up only when the engine really drops the oil pressure. For example, when the oil pump fails.
But how so? The idea is that in the engine when the oil level drops to a critical level, the oil pressure sensor should light up. Logically, yes. But this does not happen immediately after the crankcase has become almost dry. As a result, car owners can drive a few more thousand kilometers on a starving engine without oil. Naturally, in this case, you can easily screw up almost any motor.
Unfortunately, automakers for some reason do not like to equip their cars with additional oil level sensors. As a result, every year a large number of car enthusiasts around the world fall on the capital. What is not a conspiracy theories of manufacturers? Especially when you consider that many engines in modern cars do not undergo major repairs at all.
Nevertheless, the oil pressure sensor plays a much greater value than the new-fashioned oil level sensor. That is why automakers always put an oil pressure sensor in the car and rarely install an oil level sensor.Do not forget that in addition to low pressure, there is a danger and high oil pressure, which can cause a fire.
In addition, in order for you to monitor the oil level in the engine on a tidy and receive timely warning about the low oil level, it is not enough to equip the car with a conventional sensor. The fact is that calculating the engine oil level electronically is not an easy task, since the oil in the engine constantly moves when the engine is turned on, which, of course, makes it difficult for the sensor to read information about the true oil level.
That is why automakers use the sensor in the crankcase to read the oil level. However, it is possible to read information about the oil level using such a sensor only when the engine is off, when the oil is completely from the engine, the glass is in the oil pan. On the one hand, it is not convenient, but on the other hand, why not! Even such information would be very important when you start the car. Why they do not put? Who knows?
That's why it is advised to take it as a rule to check the oil level in the engine every 2000-3000 km.
