How is a television antenna done with your own hands?
To watch high quality television, it’s best to connect the TV to a satellite dish. In the city, an alternative to "plate" is cable TV. However, if you are in the country and do not want to pay for the installation of a satellite dish, you can make an alternative with your own hands. Of course, the quality of reception of such a signal is clearly not in HD, but you definitely will not have to pay per view. How to make a television antenna with your own hands, see later in our article.
Tools and materials
To carry out the creation of a homemade antenna, we will need about 1 meter of copper wire with a cross section of 2-3 millimeters, 150 centimeters of a television cable, a plug and a piece of double-sided fiberglass. Fortunately, the design of this product is not very complicated, because there will be no problems with its manufacture.
Where can I find copper wire?
Homemade all-wave television antenna can work with almost any wire.In our case, single core wire, which is used for laying electrical wiring, is quite suitable for work. Cutting it along the groove, try not to damage the insulation. It will not greatly affect the operation of the antenna, but from an aesthetic point of view this wire will look less beautiful against the general background of the antenna. In some cases, craftsmen use aluminum wire, but here it is necessary to attach a transformer on a threaded connection to the contacts of the board. In this case, the nut should not touch the foil of the device, and if it touches, then in addition it is necessary to lay a special insulating washer or other similar element between them. If there is no insulation on the wire, a vinyl chloride tube is put on it for aesthetics.
How does a TV antenna do it yourself?
Next, the wire is bent into a ring, the diameter of which should be approximately 20-25 centimeters. In order to facilitate the work, use the mandrel from a bucket of paint or another container of a suitable size of a round shape. After the ring is done, you can safely proceed to the manufacture of a transformer PCB.It is made of foil getinaksa or fiberglass. This type of manufacturing is called chemical. The thickness of the board is about 1.5 millimeters, and the length and width are 25 and 30 millimeters. The width of the current paths is not very large - in the region of one millimeter. The distance between them is 1.5-2 mm. If you are not able to make a PCB in this way, you can try a simpler one. For this, unwanted areas of the foil should be cut off so that only the contact pads remain. The tracks themselves are laid out from copper wires. Their diameter is 0.3-0.5 millimeters. They are attached to the board in the simplest way - with the help of superglue like "Moment". To make our television antenna less vulnerable to mechanical damage, the transformer should be placed in a special metal (plastic) box. It is first necessary to make holes for the rings and cable. When all items are prepared, you can proceed to the final assembly. The ends of the rings are turned into a box and bent at an angle of ninety degrees at a distance of approximately 0.3 cm.After that, they are inserted into the transformer board and soldered with solder. Next, the board rotates to the bottom of the box and is fixed in place with M3 marking nuts. A television cable with a resistance of about 75 Ohms is laid in the opening of the box. Its length should vary from 150 to 180 centimeters. A special F-connector is installed on one end of this cable, and the other is split and soldered to the printed circuit board. The central core is attached to the right side of the ring, and the shield braid is attached to the board foil.
What sequence are the parts of the homemade antenna connected to?
Everything is very simple - first the screening winding is soldered, after which the central core is fastened. Between these stages, the cable must be slightly pulled so that when the antenna is moved and when the cord is tightened, the core does not come off.
How to deal with aluminum cable?
If the screen was made of foil, then it can be pressed to the board with a steel clamp. The latter is put on the screw and fastened with a nut. This technology of fastening is called "crab".
At this stage, the television antenna was successfully made by hand. It remains only to close the box with a lid and insert the connector into the TV. However, such an antenna has one major drawback - it receives signals worse than factory analogs. In this regard, in order for the image to be with minimal noise and interference, you need to move the antenna around the room in order to find the best television signal. But if it is a television outdoor antenna, here it is necessary to properly catch the signal. Although in most cases the owners mount it to the very top of the roof of the house and the problem with the quality of the picture simply disappears. Yes, the number of channels that a TV receives with such a homemade device does not exceed 15 (depending on the area and the distance from the house to the tower), but on the other hand, you do not pay a penny to watch them. So, we figured out how to make a television antenna with your own hands at home.
