Dawn over newfoundland

The presented picture was taken on July 5, 2018. from the ISS. It captures the dawn over the northeastern territories of Canada: the provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador and Quebec.

To get this spectacular image, the astronaut focused the camera on the Sun's reflection point about 1700 km northeast of the station's position (at that moment it flew over the still-overshadowed state of Massachusetts). This was not the easiest task. The point of reflection quickly shifted. In addition, this region is often closed by clouds, which makes it difficult to photograph it with the ISS. But the astronaut still managed to find a break in the clouds and take a picture.

Also in the photo you can see four condensation trails from aircraft (three on the left, one on the right). All of them are left by planes making transatlantic flights on the shortest, and therefore very busy route between North America and Europe.
